Drying Cannabis Humidity
Master the perfect drying process for cannabis with our guide on maintaining optimal humidity levels.

The optimal cannabis humidity for drying is 55% to 62% relative humidity, ideally hovering near 60%. At that level, buds shed moisture slowly enough to preserve terpenes, color, and a springy texture, a process that usually takes 7 to 14 days depending on bud density. Stray below 50% and the flower dries too fast and smells like hay; creep above 65% and mold becomes a real risk.
Accuracy matters more than brand. Choose a digital hygrometer rated within ±2% RH and check it with a salt calibration test before trusting it with a whole harvest. Drying racks should be breathable mesh or screen rather than solid shelving so air reaches every side of the flower, and clip-on mini hygrometers make it easy to monitor individual jars through the cure. If your space runs dry, a small ultrasonic humidifier on a controller will hold 60% far more steadily than hand-misting.
Humidity During Cannabis Drying
Drying and curing tools ship from domestic warehouses, typically within one business day, in plain packaging. Unopened hygrometers, racks, and controllers can be returned within 30 days if the readings or the fit are not what you expected.
Cannabis Drying Humidity Levels
Anything under about 50% relative humidity pushes buds toward a fast, uneven dry that locks in a grassy smell. If your room drops to 45% or lower, add a humidifier or dry in a smaller, sealed space.

Run a fan only to keep air gently moving, never pointed directly at the flower, and use a dehumidifier only when readings climb above 62%. Both work best on a controller that cycles them automatically.
Small stems should snap rather than bend, and a hygrometer in a sealed jar of buds should settle at 58% to 62% after about an hour. If it reads higher, leave the jars open longer.
