Cannabis Ph Adjustment
Discover the essentials of cannabis pH adjustment for optimal CBD extraction and usage.

Cannabis pH optimization is the practice of holding your water, nutrient solution, and growing medium inside the narrow band where cannabis roots can actually take up what you feed them. Get it right and plants run greener, grow faster, and finish cleaner; let it drift and you get nutrient lockout, spotted leaves, and stalled flowers that no extra fertilizer will fix. This guide covers the target ranges, the signs of drift, and the gear that keeps you in range.
In soil and peat mixes, aim for 6.0 to 7.0, with 6.3 to 6.8 as the sweet spot. In coco coir, hydroponics, and other soilless systems, target 5.5 to 6.2 and allow a slow drift across that band so every micronutrient gets a turn. Measure the runoff or reservoir, not just the solution you pour in.
A dependable pH pen uses a glass-bulb electrode in a sealed reference cell, which is why it must stay wet in potassium chloride storage fluid rather than drying out on a shelf. Look for temperature compensation across roughly 0 to 50 degrees Celsius, since cold reservoir water reads high and warm water reads low. Adjustment solutions are typically potassium hydroxide for raising pH and phosphoric or citric acid for lowering it; add them in small increments, stir, wait a few minutes, and re-test before adding more. Calibrate weekly during active feeding, and replace the probe or the whole pen when readings drift more than 0.2 after a fresh two-point calibration.
Daily in recirculating hydro, every other day in coco or drain-to-waste, and about once a week in established soil beds. Always re-check after mixing nutrients, because concentrated feeds push pH down fast.
Interveinal yellowing, rust spots, curled tips, and slow growth despite full-strength feeding all point to lockout rather than starvation. Fix the pH before you add anything else to the reservoir.
Orders leave the warehouse within one business day, and meters ship with protective caps and buffer sachets so they arrive ready to calibrate. If a kit does not hold calibration or a solution arrives leaking, contact support within 30 days for a replacement or refund. Unopened, unused items can be returned in original packaging; keep your tracking number handy for a faster resolution.
